Uwe Ulbrich, born in Pirna near Dresden, got his first violin lessons at the age of 6. He graduated an educational degree for secondary schools majoring in music and mathematics at the University of Music "Carl Maria von Weber" Dresden and the Technical University Dresden. His intensive occupation with Early Music resulted in taking up studies of baroque violin in the class of Volker Mühlberg and Prof. Mechthild Karkow at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelsohn-Bartholdy" in Leipzig. He participated in several master classes, for example with Odile Edouard and Ryo Terakado, and was influenced by various projects led by Prof. Susanne Scholz. In early 2017 he received his Master degree with distinction.


He performs regularly in many ensembles, such as Concerto Farinelli, Merseburger Hofmusik, Leipziger Concert, Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble, Michaelis Consort, Batzdorfer Hofkapelle, Capella Jenensis, Concerto Foscari and Musica Fiata.


In his performances he puts great importance and interest to historical instruments and bows. Meanwhile his passion for Early music leads him to research historical sources and original manuscripts.
